Bay Area street artist APEX has opened an exhibition of new work at Shooting Gallery in San Francisco, titled "As Above, So Below." While APEX, also known as Ricardo Richey, has long been known for his dynamic and colorful spray-painted murals that incorporate text and imagery, he will be showing work from a new era in his career.

"As Above, So Below" will showcase the new direction APEX is taking with his work, one that involves greater abstraction. The collection on view is a study in minimalist color blocking and architectural lines and arches. Composition and simplicity become key aspects of the pieces while APEX still maintains the vibrant energy of street art.

Fans of APEX's older work shouldn't despair, however, because a companion exhibition will also include some of the artist's most notable pieces. In addition to his exhibition at the gallery, APEX will also occupy one of the gallery's project spaces for the "So Below" portion of the exhibition. This space will feature earlier and signature works from the artist, conveying his super burner aerosol and hand-styles.

"As Above, So Below" runs from Nov. 8 to Dec. 6 at Shooting Gallery in San Francisco.
