Colored pencils taken to the next level.

Colored pencils aren’t always considered the most respected or hifalutin of mediums. But the work of one Madrid-based artist, by the name of Adolfo Fernandez Rodriguez, should help raise the sketch-stick to the next level.
Rodriguez creates the amazing photorealistic works of art you see above. We’d call them drawings, but there’s so much more going on here than simple drawing. The shading is impeccable, the coloring astounding, and his attenuation of the human form startling—just look at the way he renders hands dipping into water, where he’s able to convey even wet arm hair.
While many of his paintings are almost indistinguishable from photographs, they are just as astounding for their soft, oil-painting looks.
Rodriguez has a grip more images on his Facebook page, including some that hint at the artist’s process.
