Riccardo Tisci kept the momentum going at Paris Men's Fashion Week and unveiled the Givenchyfall/winter 2014 collection this morning to a packed house and an audience that included Kanye West. The show was presented in a caged-in basketball court, and the clothes themselves took numerous geometric and silhouette references form the sport. Some of the models even had hoop-like nets over their faces. But a bigger influence than basketball was the streets themselves, and the various cultural tribes that Tisci believes exist within youth culture.
All of Tisci's collections have had specific graphics thus far—last year it was the Madonna, and in 2011 it was the Rottweiler. This season was all about the abstract paint image seen on button down shirts, sweaters, and outerwear. All in all, this collection was more masculine than previous ones we've seen (read: no skirts here). And while this show may have taken place during one of the most high-fashion moments of the year, there's no doubt that dudes who operate in the streets will be appropriating the more wearable pieces into their everyday wardrobes. All eyes were on the feet of each model, but Tisci still has yet to debut the sneakers he's worked on with Nike.
