One could argue that two is better than one, and in the case of these creative duos, they would be right. Whether married, best friends, or simply partners-in-crime, these artists and designers have used their collective power to expand their repertoires and take art to places — both literally and figuratively — that it's never been before. All of the artists on the list, despite being only fifteen of the world's many creative duos, have made huge contributions to their mediums and the art world as a whole.

Brothers Don & Ryan Clark of Invisible Creature have a design and illustration studio based in Seattle, Washington. In addition to receiving 4 GRAMMY nominations for music packaging from 2005 to 2008, they've done countless memorable projects for Target, Nike, The New York Times, Wired, and others.

The Little Friends of Printmaking are a husband and wife duo based in Madison, Wisconsin, who began getting noticed around 2003. They are known for their playful and vibrant silkscreening with an often humorous quality.

Stefan Sagmeister and Jessica Walsh joined forces in June 2012, creating identities, commercials, films, books, and objects. Having been successful designers independently beforehand, working together has created new possibilities for where their work can go.

Gavin Potenza and Liz Meyer make up Script & Seal, a multi-disciplinary design studio with an emphasis in brand development. Together, they do incredible work that includes corporate identities, interactive websites, information graphics, editorial design & illustration, and packaging for brands like The New York Times, AOL, Good Magazine, and more.

Twin brothers Raoul and David Perre comprise HOW and NOSM, who are a street art duo based in NYC. They began with graffiti in Dusseldorf, Germany, eventually visiting over sixty countries and creating a name for themselves. Their work has many subtle, controversial elements, using vibrant colors and flashy effects to yield instantly recognizable street art and murals.

Christo Vladimirov Javacheff and Jeanne-Claude Denat de Guillebon no longer create work together, due to Jeanne-Claude's unfortunate death in 2009, but their influence has been so immense in the past few decades that we had to highlight them. They created large-scale outdoor and indoor environmental works of art together since 1994, with the purpose of pleasing viewers aesthetically. They often would deny that their work carried any meaning deeper than its visual appeal and scale.

Austria-based street art/street photography duo Jana & JS landed on our list of the 50 greatest street photographers right now, for many reasons. First of all, they paint abstracted images of themselves on walls, buses, and other surfaces. Second of all, they photograph them in interesting ways, and add them to their website and Flickr. Their following has become impressive, and they continue to push the boundaries of painting and self-portraiture.

Identical twin brothers and graffiti artists, Os Gemeos, are a favorite of ours. Based in São Paulo, Brazil, Otavio and Gustavo Pandolfo began working together in 1987, eventually creating recognizable murals influenced by the social and political climate in Brazil, in addition to hip-hop and the Brazilian pixação movement. Their latest exhibition is a notable one, and can be viewed until November 25, 2012 at ICA Boston.

Michael Elmgreen and Ingar Dragset have been humorously and intelligently exploring the intersections of art, architecture, and design together since 1995. They live between London and Berlin, but have created architectural and sculptural installations that have transformed various spaces around the world. In 2004, they transformed the Bohen Foundation in New York into a 13th Street Subway Station, and iin 2005, they created Prada Marfa, the Prada boutique in the middle of the Texan desert. In 2011, their sculpture Powerless Structures, Fig. 101 was famously displayed in London's Trafalgar Square.

Jennifer Allora and Guillermo Calzadilla live and work in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and have been a duo since 1995. Their visual art includes sculpture, photography, performance, sound, and video, typically commenting on geo-politics. They have shown work in museums and galleries worldwide, and they represented the USA in the 2011 Venice Biennale.

Anne and Patrick Poierier's work, whether it be in the medium of photography, drawing, installation, or monumental public sculpture, deals with history and memory in ever-exciting ways. They are both French and began creating work together in 1963.

Gilbert Proesch and George Passmore comprise Gilbert and George, whose vibrantly colored photo-based graphics are well-known and adored in the art world. They met and began working together in 1967, while studying sculpture at St Martins School of Art in London. In addition to the large-scale photo works they're best known for, they've created sculptures together, too. At the 2005 Venice Biennale, they represented the UK. In 2007, they had a retrospective at the Tate Modern that's the largest of any retrospectives in the museum's history. They've received numerous awards and Honorary Doctorates.

Chances are, you've seen their work in many a publication, whether it be Vogue, Paris Vogue, Vogue Italia, W, Visionaire, Vanity Fair, Harper’s Bazaar, L’Uomo Vogue, Interview, or others. As a duo, they've raised the standard in fashion photography, and we're continually impressed.

Jeremy & Claire Weiss are a husband and wife photography duo based in Los Angeles. They've shot a number of incredible (and award-winning) advertising campaigns, including the recently ubiquitous Pepsi "Live For Now" ads with Nicki Minaj and Big Sean. They also co-own THIS Gallery in Los Angeles. With an endless roster of clients, agencies, and publications under their belt, it seems that their chemistry is not only undeniable, but unbeatable.
