In addition to being one of the greatest painters and artists of all time, Picasso wrote two plays and hundreds of poems during the 1940s and ’50s. The Guggenheim is presenting one of his plays, Desire Caught by the Tail, this fall. It's believed that he wrote the play during four days in January 1941, while living in Nazi-occupied Paris. It's a Surrealist, apolitical script, likely written cautiously, so he wouldn't provoke the Germans. Purchase tickets here for October 14th and 15th showings. [Hyperallergic]
