As Derek Zoolander once said, "wetness is the essence of beauty." And that statement has never been more true thanks to this collaboration between Alexander Wang and Evian. The designer has teamed up with Evian to design two limited-edition bottles that will house the company's mineral water, WWD reports.
The two water bottles feature Wang's barcode design, which he has included in previous collections, in black and white. While the water bottle collaboration might feel out of left field from Wang, the designer emphasizes his plans to expand his label into more lifestyle areas than just apparel. "We don’t just live with clothes and shoes," Wang told WWD. "We sit on furniture. We go to restaurants. We drink. We eat. To be able to take our brand and expand into lifestyle and work with partners that have perfected what they do is something I learn so much from and really stimulates me."
Wang's casual, everyday aesthetic also coupled well with Evian's mission for its ninth designer collaboration. "Mineral water is about everyday consumption but [also] premium dimensions with the iconic glass bottle." Evian's global brand director Laurent Houel told WWD. "That’s something that’s close to Alex’s universe. He’s also about everyday fashion that’s accessible and approachable, but with a very strong design integrity, so we really feel it’s a great match in terms of the spirit between brands."
The special-edition water bottles come two different ways, either glass or Prestige PET. They will launch at Wang's Spring 2016 fashion show before spreading to select hotels, retailers, and restaurants.
