The fashion industry has a problem. Due to historical prejudices, it hasn’t given Black designers and creators the access, platforms, or shine they’ve long deserved. But Macy’s has a plan to address that. Starting with its own Icons of Style program, the national retail outlet has worked to fund and stock more Black designers since 2021.
For Icons of Style 2022, Macy’s tapped GooGoo Atkins, Areeayl Yoseefaw Goodwin, Ade Samuel, Jerome LaMarr, Mathew Harris of MATEO, and Stella & Blaise to design collaborative capsule collections for its INC, Bar III, And Now This, and Epic Threads lines.
