For a recent series, Richard Prince brings together what ANIMAL refers to as his "twin devotions to image appropriation and social networking." Prince began posting photos to his Instagram on Sunday that are photos of prints of other people's Instagram portraits (so meta).
The prints are literally screengrabs from the IG accounts of models and celebrities including Sky Ferreira,Pamela Anderson, Jessica Hart, and Glenn O'Brien, all of which include a comment from Prince. It is unclear what he intends to do with the prints (he only mentions stretching them), but it will be interesting to see if these go on sale soon. There is a comment on postmodern philosophy and simulacra in there somewhere, but you can ask your teachers to explain that.
