Toy Story 5 stands to gain a potential plot point inspiration with the latest development from A Bathing Ape.
Early Friday, both the official BAPE and Barbie Instagram accounts shared a glimpse at what is clearly a full-blown collab between the two brands. The design for the pieces, per BAPE, takes direct inspiration from "an icon" and feature both apparel and accessories for Barbie dolls of all ages.
To further celebrate the collab, BAPE has set up a special photo booth resembling a doll box at its Harajuku shop. An exact launch date has not been announced at the time of this writing, though both brands have teased that fans should expect a drop to be "coming soon."
With any luck, perhaps BAPE can tackle the world of Funko next.
Back in February, BAPE enlisted none other than Lil Wayne to debut its latest collaborative collection with UGG. "It's an honor 'cause Bape is one of the clothing lines that I still remember saving my money to buy," Weezy told Complex of the modeling gig.
The Barbie universe, meanwhile, may soon be getting the cinematic treatment. As of January, Warner Bros. and Mattel had closed a deal on a live-action version of the classic doll's story starring Margot Robbie.
