Rihanna was one of the few celebrities to really nail this year's Met Gala theme, "China: Through the Looking Glass." The Bad Gal paid homage to the country's culture by wearing a dress made by Chinese designer Guo Pei. Pei spoke with The Cut about the inspiration behind the dress and how she felt about all the memes, which saw the gown turned into a pizza and an omelette.

"I think it’s really cute! I’m very happy. This dress is very important — if people find this dress interesting and funny, I think it’s great. Rihanna is wearing this dress for entertainment — not for a fashion show," Pei said about the dress memes.

Pei also divulged that it took over two years to make the dress and it weighs roughly 55 pounds. "She wore it really well, proving that she is Rihanna and the dress was meant for her," Pei said. The dress came out of Pei's royalty-inspired collection, A Thousand and Two Nights.

And, for the record, RiRi is also cool with the memes, she's posted a couple of them on her own Instagram account.
