This infographic illustrating the most popular shoes from select decades in the past 500 years shows how quickly and drastically styles can go in and out of favor.

The infographic from Jamie Azimova highlights how much trends have changed since the 1500s and 1700s, when heeled shoes, like pantofles and mules, were favorites for men. And although the changes throughout the 20th century weren't as dramatic, there were sudden jumps from Saddle shoes to desert boots, and platform shoes to Doc Martens, which were followed by sneakers from adidas and Nike. It's a fascinating look at how quickly shoes can go in and out of style. It's also interesting to see how some of these shoes have come back, the big one being Chelsea boots, which are now worn by everyone from Kanye West to David Beckham
