Over the last four months, ANIMAL New York filmed the demolition of 5 Pointz from the window of a nearby Queens residency, documenting the fall of New York's former graffiti mecca. Only a minute long, the video above does little to capture the intense atmosphere that led up to the building's destruction, but it does reveal how quickly New York City's landscape is changing as new developments spring up across the five boroughs.

5 Pointz was slated for demolition in Nov. 2013, and in the months that followed, many street and graffiti artists expressed their outrage and sadness at the decision to raze their former concrete canvas. Now, the developers who own the former 5 Pointz lot plan to build two high-rise apartment buildings in its place.
