The legal battle you didn't know was going on in Orange County, Fla. is over, and the Satanists have won.
The Satanic Temple recently posted a press release to their website announcing that they will begin distributing The Satanic Children's BIG BOOK of Activities to schools in the area. The release explains that the School Board in Orange County "allowed an evangelical Christian group to distribute Bibles while censoring atheist materials" from the Freedom From Religion Foundation. The FFRF sued and won, and while the Satanic Temple says that they don't support the ruling to allow the distribution of religious materials in schools, they want to "ensure that pluralism is respected whenever the Church/State division is breached."
"We think the responsible thing to do is to ensure that these students are given access to a variety of differing religious opinions, as opposed to standing idly by while one religious voice dominates the discourse and delivers propaganda to youth," says The Satanic Temple’s spokesperson, Lucien Greaves. In addition to the activity book (which looks kind of fun), they will be giving kids pamphlets about their organization and the "tenets, philosophy and practice of Satanism."
