The Winners of the 2013 Rob Pruitt Art Awards Have Been Announced

It's just an honor to be nominated!

With the end-of-the-year power rankings of art and artists coming in, we’re glad to see the publication Art in America offer a tempered take on these proceedings. The magazine, celebrating its 100th year in publication, allowed New York City artist Rob Pruitt to take over their December issue to announce his annual Rob Pruitt Art Awards.  These awards, which take a stab at the seriousness of all the power rankings, went to print with a cover done by Brooklyn design collective DIS.

The nominees and winners (listed below) will be celebrated during Art Basel Miami Beach, with a party that Pruitt is describing as something a bit off the wall.

"I'm so proud of the issue, and so much work went into it from so many people, so I wanted a tasteful cocktail party," Pruitt told Art in America of the event. "But then I sabotaged that, because I thought, what party is complete without a karaoke machine and a stripper pole? We will hand out awards for the best karaoke performance and the best choreography on the stripper pole—not for best curator of the year or anything. I'm particularly hoping Klaus Biesenbach will participate in the karaoke section of the evening."

When Pruitt is done hawking wares in his eBay holiday market, join him for the celebration.
