Last night the BET Hip-Hop Awards popped off, and as usual the night was full of action and surprises. From performances of the year's hottest tracks to the always entertaining cyphers, it was a jam-packed few hours. And of course, everyone came out doing their best to shine amongst hip-hop's elite. Whether on the red carpet or on-stage, dudes from all over the map busted out their finest for the cameras. Some definitely had their swag-lord status on full display, while others either took it way too far or simply failed. From the performers to the red carpet, this is our Style Recap: The Best and Worst Dressed at the 2013 BET Hip-Hop Awards.

Best: 2 Chainz
The night was heavy on Givenchy, but 2 Chainz busted out a rarely-seen Madonna button-down that was mostly covered up with a dope jacket. While we still don't mind 2 Chainz going head-to-toe baroque on occasion, dude's style is getting more and more sophisticated without losing its weirdness.
Best: Rick Ross
This counts as the best, but is a look that should only be attempted if you're hovering near 400 lbs and are opulent enough to live off a diet of lobster bisque and cereal with amaretto instead of milk. Otherwise, you'll look like that oldhead who still thinks it's 1998.
Worst: Stevie J
This was one of the few moments caught on camera when Stevie J and Joseline Hernandez weren't sucking face, and it allowed us to peep his unoriginal outfit. Leather tank tops are hard enough to pull off as is, and look straight up cheap when worn to an awards show. Also, now his "Sleazy J" tattoo is on full display.
Best: Stalley
In a night dominated by the black/white motif and leather, Stalley's 'fit was a refreshing departure from the usual. This look can and should be easily replicated by dudes who operate in everyday life, not in the opulent over-the-topness of hip-hop royalty.
Best: Snoop Lion
While we're not exactly co-signers of pleated denim, the look along with a blue paisley printed shirt is an homage to Snoop's glory days of early '90s L.A., a sound and look that's definitely present in today's hip-hop culture.
Best: Schoolboy Q
Schoolboy Q isn't one for luxury designers, and unlike a lot of rappers, instead of trying to throw on the most expensive gear he can find, he throws on a dope T-shirt complemented with simple but stylish accessories.
Worst: Rich Homie Quan
Sorry, Homie. That hoodie is just distracting.
Worst: Nelly
If you want to do high/low, don't do this.
Best: Yo Gotti
The red/white/gold motif is still dope, but is definitely on its way to being played out. If Yo Gotti wants to be considered a stylish dude, he'll need to switch it up by the next major appearance.
Worst: Snoop Lion
We get it, this was just one of several costumes changes that Snoop rocked while hosting the awards show. But at this point adding any sort of animal to Snoop Dogg/Lion's world will only add confusion.
Best: Meek Mill
Meek Mill kept it subtle with a simple but dope varsity jacket and a bit of gold set on top of all-black everything.
Best: Mack Wilds
Not only are you gonna have to start paying attention to Mack Wilds' musical moves, but we might have to start making room for him on "Most Stylish" lists.
Best: Rittz
Rittz kept it simple with staple streetwear items. There's hardly anyway you can go wrong with Jordans, a bit of camo, and a varsity jacket.
Best: Future
It's not the most original of 'fits, but tying a shirt around the waist is still a solid way of playing with silhouette. Hopefully the black and gold color scheme switches up by the next awards show.
Best: Future
This is a little more refreshing. Same pieces up top but in white, and the Timbs are a classic touch to a very trend-driven look.
Worst: French Montana
Very few words. If Uncle Junior from the Sopranos did too much Molly in Miami, this might be the outcome.
Best: Rick Ross
Again, this look only works because of Ross' bawse status. If your nickname isn't a genre of wine, then there's no way you can pull off this bold jacket with leather pants and no undershirt.
Worst: Chinx Drugs
Theoretically, this could work. In theory, that is.
Best: B.o.B
Oversized sunglasses, tunic shirt, printed pants—this look is nothing but style risks. But with high risk comes high reward, and B.o.B looked dope.
Worst: Floyd Mayweather
Even though the absence of "The Money Team" logos is nice, Mayweather is the latest victim to the school of thought that believes simply throwing on expensive gear equals good style.
Worst: Quavo; Best: TakeOff
Quavo looks like a Nickelodeon cartoon, but TakeOff rocks a more subtle piece from the brand that made them famous.
Best: DJ Khaled
This is just opulent cozy boy at its best. Khaled looks like a evil warlord who just came from the gym. Except, let's be honest, there'se no way he just came from the gym.
Worst: Busta Rhymes
Busta's been doing nothing but throwing on expensive designer gear thinking that doing so will get automatic co-signs. There are very few instances where this Givenchy baseball sweater would look good. This isn't one of them. Bring back the kimono-type weirdness, Busta!
Best: Kendrick Lamar
As usual, Kendrick pays homage to his West Coast roots with some classic plaid, but gives it a modern-day upgrade by rocking the gradient piece from Public School.
Best: Diddy
Nothing else matters except that Diddy is wearing a crown.
Best: 2 Chainz
2 Chainz is and always will dress like a weirdo, and we mean that in the best way possible. In head-to-toe KTZ, 2 Chainz killed it on-stage and also trunked the style competition.
