The history of fine British tailoring sits amongst the many shops in Saville Row, and the idea of Abercrombie & Fitch expanding shop on the Row does not sit well with some. The retailer has already encroached on this sartorial Mecca with a shop on Burlington Gardens, but A&F plans to expand by opening up a children’s store. Much of the complaint stems from the issue that the big-store retailer will be watering down the class and luxury of the historic area, from its cheap clothes to skin revealing ads. It’s hard to imagine the same customer who buys a $3,000 bespoke suit to hop next door and get a $20 shirt made in China. [forbes]
