WWE Wrestler Big E Breaks Neck During 'Smackdown' Tag Team

E, real name Ettore Ewen, was fighting Ridge Holland when he landed on the top of his head after what ESPN is calling an “overhead belly-to-belly suplex."

Big E is letting fans know that he’ll be just fine after suffering a broken neck during a WWE “Smackdown” matchup on Friday night.

E, whose real name is Ettore Ewen, was fighting Ridge Holland when he landed on the top of his head after what ESPN is calling an “overhead belly-to-belly suplex.” The event at Legacy Arena in Birmingham, Alabama then saw E removed from the venue in a stretcher. The video of the incident can be viewed below, but it’s best to watch with caution.

While E’s WrestleMania 38 hopes may be in question since the event is fast approaching on April 2 and 3, he’s now promising fans that he “feels fine” and thanking them for the outpouring of support that came Friday night following the injury. He informed them of his broken neck during a bedside video posted to Twitter.

“I can’t thank all of you beautiful people enough for all of your concern and messages,” E said, while wearing a neck brace in the hospital. “It’s very heartwarming. … I’m gonna be all right. I’ll be good. Don’t worry. Go to sleep. Don’t worry about old me. But for real, thank you. I appreciate all of you.”

The 36-year-old wrestler previously held the WWE championship from September to January of this year, and is a multiple-time WWE tag-team champion, per ESPN.
