On Friday’s episode of WFAN’s Boomer and Gio radio show, NFL insider Boomer Esiason claimed that a source close to the Green Bay Packers told him Aaron Rodgers might boycott the Super Bowl should the team make it that far.

“I’ve been told by multiple people in Aaron’s direct circle that if the Packers make the Super Bowl he will use the week leading up to it to make a major point,” Esiason, reading from an alleged text message from the source, said. “He will threaten the NFL by saying he won’t play in the Big Game or next season if they don’t eliminate some of the COVID-related rules.”

Esiason added, “One big one that upsets him the most is the testing of non-symptomatic players. He’s told [backup] Jordan Love to be ready. Like you said, he’s gotta make it first. But Super Bowl week will be set on fire and send Goodell in a frenzy navigating the situation.”

Hours later, Rodgers took to Twitter to respond, shutting down the report with several hashtags: “@dumbestfuckingstoryever #fakenews #boycottfakenews #boycottbums #boycottwaterfalls #boycottAJsmokingcigars #boycottLafleurBrows #boycottGutchies,” he wrote.

The news arrives just days after Rodgers blasted NFL MVP voter and Chicago sportswriter Hub Arkush for saying he wouldn’t vote for the Packers QB because he’s a “jerk” and “bad guy.”

“I think he’s a bum,” Rodgers told reporters on Wednesday. “I think he’s an absolute bum. He doesn’t know me. I don’t know who he is. No one knew who he was, probably, until yesterday’s comments. I listened to the comments, but to say he had his mind made up in the summertime, in the offseason that I had zero chance of winning MVP, in my opinion, should exclude future votes. His problem isn’t with me being a bad guy or the biggest jerk in the league, because he doesn’t know me...he doesn’t know anything about me, I’ve never met him. I’ve never had lunch with him. I’ve never had an interview with him. His problem is I’m not vaccinated.”

Rodgers continued, “So if he wants to go on a crusade and collude and come up with an extra letter to put on the award, just for this season, and make it the ‘Most Valuable Vaccinated Player,’ then he should do that. He’s a bum and I’m going to waste any time worrying about that stuff. He doesn’t know what I do, who I am. He’s never talked to me in his life, but it’s unfortunate that those sentiments...it’s surprising that he would even say that, to be honest.”
