The NFL preseason is under way and that only truly means one thing. Fantasy football is back. After months of suffering from the reigning champ of your league gloating or the months of you victory lapping your latest title, a new season is finally upon us. While you've probably been tirelessly researching what players you need to draft or evaluating the team you already did pick, that's only one part of constructing your perfect championship squad.
Every fantasy GM has to scheme up a great team name. While that name is usually based off the players you pick, you're going to need something creative, catchy, and witty. We've seen the overused classic names over the years like "Lights, Kamara Action, or "Ain’t No Waller-Back Girl" but it's time to change things up a bit. That's what we are here for.
We picked the best fantasy team names for the 2023 season. If you’re lucky or unlucky enough to land one of these players on your fantasy squad, these are your best options.
Bijan Mustard
Ladies and gentlemen, we might have a winner for the best fantasy team name for the 2023 season. Bijan Mustard just fits perfectly for the Falcons rookie Bijan Robinson and it will be used for years to come. While it's a risk taking a running back so early in the real NFL Draft, it's the opposite for fantasy. Backs dominate the fantasy game and if you land Bijan, this should be your team name without a doubt. Bijan may go earlier in fantasy drafts than he did in the real draft this past fall.
Run CMC
If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Run CMC isn't broke. It's a safe play and if you do end with Christian McCaffrey, he's going to be your No. 1 option on your fantasy team. Basing your team name off the guy who's likely going to carry you the whole season is the least you can do.
The Bryce Is Right
Another team name based off an incoming rookie. Bryce Young will have to prove himself a bit more for someone to start him out the gate but he'll be a nice draft and stash option. The Bryce is Right is short and simple.
Kyler The Creator
If you're drafting Kyler Murray, you're drafting him primarily as a backup to start the year as he's still recovering from his ACL surgery. Nonetheless, if he is on your roster, this is a simple but witty play off of Tyler the Creator. There's no timetable on when he may return and quite frankly, he's struggled of late producing but he's a great emergency option for your team late in the year.
Country Roads, Take Mahomes
Even if you're not a country music fan, which I am not, you know this song. I know you've heard it somewhere before and you can finish the chorus effortlessly. There's a lot of Mahomes references and playful names out there but this team name doesn't get enough respect. Sure you might say Post Mahomes or Sherlock Mahomes but that doesn't hit as well as this one. If you land a good running back and have Mahomes as your quarterback, you'll be singing this song.
Baskin Dobbins
While JK Dobbins is holding out of camp due to his contract situations, the expectation is he will end up showing up. JK Dobbins had a solid end to his season last year after recovering from his injury. It took him time to get adjusted back on the field but he slowly showed flashes of what he can do. With some new weapons on the offense including Odell Beckham Jr. and Zay Flowers, it should be a solid year for the Dobbins. As for the team name, Baskin Dobbins just makes sense.
Tua Lipa
While you may have some worry about Tua's ability to stay on the field, he's always going to have Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle on his team when he is healthy. If you want to be different, go with Tua Lipa. It's a great play off Dua Lipa, the famous music artist.
Addison Square Garden
There are a lot of solid options with the new rookies coming in. Jordan Addison should have his share of touches as Justin Jefferson will draw all the attention every game so he could be a sneaky good pickup. Addison Square Garden is a great play off of the world's most famous arena. It would work a bit better if Addison was drafted by the New York Giants or Jets but it's still a solid option.
DAKstreet Boys
Naming your team after Dak Prescott is a choice. If you choose that route, this is another classic that you can't go wrong with. Again, I warn you naming your team after Dak Prescott is a choice. Your team takes on the identity of your team name and in this situation, you're likley to have a successful regular season while flaming out in the playoffs.
Oh Saquon You See
There was some doubt Saquon Barkley would be in a Giants uniform this fall but Saquon is back in blue after some back-and-forth with the front office on his contract. Saquon proved he was still elite last season despite his slow finish to the year and most of all, he was able to stay healthy. Will the Giants be as dependent on him to carry the offense? That's unlikely especially after they paid Daniel Jones $140 million but Saquon will always be a threat to put up numbers whether on the ground or in the air. This another classic name that will always work.
