Touring cars are inherently cool. They mix the rough and tumble spectacle of NASCAR with the aerodynamics and circumstance of Formula 1, making it one of our favorite series to follow. Take a look at these radical entries from BMW, Mercedes, and Audi for 2014.
Mercedes is fielding seven drivers for 2014, including ex-F1 drivers Vitaly Petrov and Paul di Resta. The C-Class Coupe DTM looks good, but not nearly as mean as Audi’s RS 5 DTM. Audi has built upon its 2013 championship-winning car with a brand new aerodynamics package and highly revised suspension. BMW will start the year with the new M4 DTM, the replacement to last year’s M3. If the racing silhouette is anywhere as good as the road car, it should be a ringer for sure.
All cars will sport their respective 4.0L naturally aspirated V8’s, produce around 480-horsepower, and drive the rear wheels through a sequential six-speed gearbox. The season begins on May 4 at Hockenheim.
