It seems like BMW is announcing a new model every other day. While that might not be true, they have just confirmed the US-market’s most recent model, a homegrown BMW X7 SUV to be built in South Carolina.
BMW has yet to release official images or specs for the X7, but a few spy shots have been snapped from testing overseas. Rumors suggest that the new X7 will ride on an enlarged version of the current X5 and upcoming X6 platform, and offer many of the standard I6 and V8 mills in the lineup.
To kickstart production, BMW has invested $1 billion into its Spartanburg, South Carolina plant. The group plans to expand production by 50 percent over the next two years, up to 450,000 vehicles. In addition to the newly confirmed X7, the plant already builds the X3, X4, X5, and X6 vehicles.
