Lonzo Ball Responds to Jay Z’s Support of Big Baller Brand Sneakers

Lonzo Ball thanked Jay Z for supporting Big Baller Brand, and promises his sneakers are on the way.

If you were making a list of the most unlikely LaVar Ball supporters, Jay Z would have to be near the top of the list. Although he's quite the bragger on the mic, Jay lets his success speak for itself on the business front, which is a stark contrast to Ball's relentless salesmanship.

But Jay recently revealed he's behind what Ball is doing with Big Baller Brand, even if he's not down with some of his antics. "That man has a vision of his own," Jay said. "Why wouldn't I support him? He feels like he can move culture and his son got a big enough name and big enough brand that they can do it. Nike had to start somewhere. Why do we get so upset when we, us as a culture, want to start our own shit? That shit is puzzling to me."

It's not every day you get a co-sign from one of the GOATs, so Lonzo Ball thought he should return the favor to Jay. During a brief interview with TMZ, the elder Ball son thanked Jay for supporting the squad, though he wasn't exactly animated in his reply.

"All I got to say is thank you, man," said Ball. But he also didn't appear all that interested in discussing what Jay's support of the brand would do for the company, and claims that's not really his lane. "I just play basketball, man. I don't handle all that. That's the brand's job."

Not exactly a jubilant reply from Ball, but then again, he's not much of a talker. It's bizarre how different he is from his father, though it's probably a good thing: if a basketball player was as talented as Lonzo and as obnoxious as LaVar, the public would get sick of them pretty quickly. A little humility from Lonzo helps keep the family in the good graces of some of the public.

Ball did make an important note for Jay, who claims he has yet to receive his Big Baller Brand gear. Shoe orders for the company don't get sent out until November, so Jay will just have to wait like the rest of us peons if he wants to lounge around in those BBB sneakers.
