Would you ever run onto the field during a game? Let's think about this for a minute. The pros: You might end up on television for a few seconds, and thousands of your adoring fellow fans will hoot and holler with joy at your pathetic attempt to run to nowhere. The cons: Stadium security guys tackle really well, and you could face bannishment from the stadium, fines, and even jail time. While you debate your future conquest(s) onto the field, click through thisĀ GIF Gallery: The Worst Storming the Field Fails to see whose footsteps you'd be following in.

That Costume is Now Forever Unclean

The real question here: Why is Burnley F.C.'s mascot a bumble-bee? Kudos to Mr. Bertie Bee for flipping the shit out of that streaker.

That'll Be 50K, Mr. Harrison

Actually, maybe if Jerome Harrison tackled more like that, he wouldn't have racked up $125,000 in fines from the league throughout his career.

Cheerleaders Are People Too

Sport: Football

Just another reason to never fuck with swole male cheerleaders and their flexible female partners. After a douchebag Yale student stole Harvard's team flag during a Harvard-Yale game, Harvard's cheerleaders took the matter into their own hands.

Run For the Hills!

For the most part, hooliganism has been kicked out of European footballing culture. Every year though, one or two incidents happen, and we're not saying that they always come from Turkey, but they usually come from Turkey. If you ever go to Istanbul, DO NOT buy a Galatasaray shirt as a souvenir or to "rep the local culture," because if you wander into the Besiktas district of Istanbul, shit will most definitely go down, hombre.

During the Besiktas-Galatasaray derby last month, these chair-wielding maniacs rushed the pitch after Galatasaray midfielder Felipe Melo was sent off in injury time. With Galatasaray winning 2-1 and the local fans out of fucks to give, they decided to use the pitch as a battle field. Riot police eventually restored order, but not before Melo was hit by a bottle. Ouch.

It's Only the Pre-Season

Sport: Football

Bro, if you're going to run onto the field for your 15 seconds (or less) of fame and subsequently get hit with a fine or banishment from stadium officials, you might as well do it in a regular season game.

Wait Until the Game is Over, Folks

Sport: Football

If you're going to storm the field, can you at least do it after the final whistle blows? During the last seconds of a BYU-Utah game last year, BYU attempted a pass to get them in field goal range. The pass was incomplete, and the game ended with Utah on top 24-21, causing their fans to rush the field. The officials, however, looked at the replay of BYU's incomplete pass and determined that one second should go back on the clock. BYU set up for a 51-yard field goal attempt, but Utah blocked it. Game over now, right? The fans again stormed the field, but because they did so while the ball was still live (BYU tried to keep the play alive after the block), Utah was penalized 15 yards and BYU were allowed to re-kick. Oops

If the College Football Gods were righteous, BYU would've converted the field goal to tie the game, but because it's college football and there's no such thing as justice or fairness, the ensuing 36-yard attempt missed, and Utah won. The fans rushed onto the field for a third and valid time, but at that point, was anyone really excited?

When Retweets Go Wrong

Sport: Baseball

Most fans who take to the field are one-hit wonders. Sometimes they're drunk, or just want to be on TV, or want to bask in the cheers of thousands of fans rooting for them to run away from security for as long as possible. They get taken away, slapped around a little bit by the fuzz, and maybe get a stadium ban or a fine. That's it.

For our friend up top, 2013 MLB All-Star game attendee Dylan Masone, taking to the field meant a third-degree criminal trespassing charge with a possibility of one year in prison. And why did Masone eat infield dirt? Because he said he would run across the field if he got 1,000 retweets. 3,000 retweets later, he found himself as the bottom bitch of a Citi Field security guard.

Sport: Football

You can debate the legality of "The Play "all you want, but it stands as the most infamous and worst (for Stanford, at least) example of a storming the field fail.
