Fi-na-lly! After months of skipping out on training camp and the preseason, looking for a new, lucrative deal, Tristan Thompson has finally agreed to a new five-year contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers. With the start of the regular season just around the corner, Thompson and the Cavs came to terms on an $82 million deal which will make him the sixth-highest paid power forward in the league.

The last year has been a back-and-forth affair with Thompson turning down a four-year, $52 million contract, instead, asking for a deal somewhere in the range of $90 million. The Cavaliers refused to go that high for the 24-year-old forward, countering with an $80 million offer over five years. When it was turned down, the Cavs dangled a one-year, $6.8 million qualifying offer over his head. Tristan declined that deal as well, setting the stage for a hold out which would bleed into the regular season. On Wednesday, both sides finally came to an agreement after bumping up the total dollars by $2 million.
