LeBron James is determined to get his summer training in by any means necessary. Even though James is set to begin filming Space Jam 2 as he embarks on a six-month stint away from pro basketball, the Los Angeles Lakers star forward will make sure that he doesn't allow himself to slack off during the offseason by having a full-length basketball built on the movie's set, according to Joe Vardon of The Athletic

With James making his debut as a lead actor in a feature film in this Space Jam follow-up during his first full offseason, playoffs included, since 2005, it would make sense if he were to feel uncomfortable with these new experiences coming all at once. LeBron, however, says he's more motivated by these circumstances. "I like being uncomfortable in the offseason," James said. "I like being counted out. It motivates me."

In fact, James feels as though he's playing with house money as he tries to figure out how to get the most of the additional two months of possible training he will have at his disposal. "I’ve had basically the same offseason training regimen the last eight years," James continued. "I knew how long I wanted to rest for the season on a short timeline. I’m figuring out now how to get as much as I can out of two months of extra time for training. It requires a totally different strategy. We’re looking at it in an entirely new way."

Space Jam 2 is slated to hit theaters on July 16, 2021.
