Aside from his "when in doubt, shoot" quote before he took the court as a Cleveland Cavalier for the first time a few weeks ago, J.R. Smith has been relatively un-J.R. Smith-like while wearing the wine and gold. He's taken, for the most part, good shots. He's made a healthy amount of them, shooting 43 percent from the field and just about 40 percent from beyond the arc. He hasn't untied anyone's shoe laces, and he's even throwing up picture perfect alley-oops. It's...weird.
Luckily, Smith offered up a classic Smithism to Akron-Beacon Journal beat writer Jason Lloyd after Lloyd noticed Smith had showered prior to tip off against the Charlotte Hornets last night. Here's their exchange:
Lloyd: "You shower before every game?"
Smith: "Yup."
Lloyd: "Gotta look good at all times, huh?"
Smith: "Yep. You ever know when your future wife might be in the stands."
Maybe that's all Smith has been looking for his whole career, and why he's pulled so many shenanigans. He's just trying to find love.
