Intro

The Houston Texans' Andre Johnson is the best wide receiver in the NFL (men lie, women lie, the accumulated average of approximately 10 gazillion fantasy drafts don't live). Johnson's alma mater, the University of Miami, is the best college football program of the past 30 years (this time it's just numbers that don't lie). But even if you don't agree with either of the above, you'd probably guess that Andre's gonna have a better year than the U. Still, Andre's a proud alum, and as both a former Hurricane and a native Miamian, a good person to talk about the history of the school's football team. We got with him recently to talk about his favorite fellow 'Canes.

Michael Irvin

Michael Irvin

Number: 47
Position: Wide Receiver
Years: 1985-1987
National Championship: 1987

"I think his name describes himself because everyone calls him the playmaker and I think that pretty much speaks for itself."

Lamar Thomas

Lamar Thomas

Number: 36
Position: Wide Receiver
Years: 1989-1992
National Championship: 1989, 1991

"His memories were more of just the taking off the helmet. You know, whenever he made a crazy catch, he would just take his helmet off and run around."

Ray Lewis

Ray Lewis

Number: 52
Position: Linebacker
Years: 1993-1995
National Championship: none

"He's all over the field. Very talented. Wasn't always the fastest dude, but you could tell he works hard at what he does. Even when you look at him now in the NFL, I think this is about to be his 15th or 16th year, he's still out there playing as one of the top guys at his position. Just a hard worker and a very dedicated leader."

Michael Barrow

Michael Barrow

Number: 56
Position: Linebacker
Years: 1989-1992
National Championship: 1989, 1991

"Just a great player, man. Growing up as a kid, watching the games, he was always the guy who stood out. Definitely a leader of the defense. Like I said, growing up he was just a guy that I paid a lot of attention to."

Ed Reed

Ed Reed

Number: 20
Position: Free Safety
Years: 1998-2001
National Championship: 2001

"He's the guy that always finds a way to get his hands on the football. I think he had 19 interceptions in two years or something like that. He was always someone who found someway to get his hands on the ball, so he was very exciting even though he was on the opposite side of the ball."
