This is a bummer. The Tesla Model X, previously slated to be released later this year, will be delayed until first or second quarter 2015. Tesla will begin pre-production of the electric SUV this year, but that doesn't really mean anything to consumers.

In another blow to, Tesla reportedly has to bail on the Model E name for its mass market car. Fortunereports the car is now nameless because of a copyright battle with Ford. Ford originally copyrighted Model E but dropped its claim in 2010. Then Ford applied for it again within months of Tesla's application.

We can deal with a name change, but we hope the car formerly known as the Model E doesn't face similar delays to the Model X.
