Dwight Howard Thinks Russell Westbrook Should Pass the Ball Around

Howard shared his thoughts on what would make the Thunder's Big Three better.

Oklahoma City's Big Three failed to make it out of the first round of this NBA postseason, which means that failure needs to be analyzed. Previously, on this subject, Carmelo Anthony had stated that there was no real strategy put in place when the team acquired him. It's also been reported that NBA insiders think the team should seriously consider dealing Russell Westbrook.

While not as drastic for the franchise as that latter suggestion, Dwight Howard did say that he thinks OKC's star point guard needs to sacrifice himself more for the team (yes, we agree, there's some irony in Howard saying that). Still, Howard made the statement on ESPN's morning show Get Upwhen asked who amongst Anthony, Westbrook, and Paul George, should have sacrificed the most for the good of the squad.

“I would say Russ because Russ has the ball more times in his hands,” Howard said, according to The Score. “And I watched Carmelo and Paul George at times, and they were just standing there, watching. Late in the games, I think the ball should have been more in Carmelo’s hands because he’s more of a closer. Paul George, he’s that guy that’s going to get you the 20-30 points between the first and the third quarter.

“Russ, he should just facilitate, get everybody involved early in the game, and just let those guys play. At this point in his career, he’s done everything as far as the individual. He has all the accolades. But now, it should just be about making everyone around him better.”

Let's see if Russ takes the advice.
