Josh Gordon's drug issues has hampered him throughout his professional football career. After being suspended multiple times for violating the NFL's drug policy, the New England Patriots decided to take a risk and signed the talented wide receiver to a one-year contract. Despite displaying faith in his abilities, the Patriots reportedly went to extensive measures and constructed a security team to prevent any mishaps.
According to ESPN, Patriots coach Bill Belichick and owner Robert Kraft assigned several team officials to accompany Gordon's every move. This security team followed Gordon at all times to prevent him from indulging in the lifestyle that could derail the season. However, the provisions still weren't enough. Sources claim that he eluded New England's detail during the team's Nov. 18 bye weekend, and on Thursday, Gordon was suspended indefinitely for violating the terms of his conditional reinstatement under the league's drug policy.
It's also been reported that Gordon tested positive for more substances than marijuana. Based on his history and the NFL's policies, it looked like he was facing a lifetime suspension from the league. However, FOX Sports' Jay Glazer reported that Gordon could be reinstated if he is "on the straight and narrow and has completely changed his ways.”

Gordon also took to Twitter to say he is stepping away from football to focus on his mental health.
