The Saturday night main event to watch, before the Super Bowl 50 on Sunday, was the Golden State Warriors and the Oklahoma City Thunder at Oracle Arena in Oakland. This game featured the league's best tandems between the Warriors' Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson versus Thunder's Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook, with three out of four of those players currently ranking in the NBA Top 10 scoring leaders in Curry at No.1 (29.8 per game), Durant in third place (27.4 per game), and Westbrook tied for sixth with Blazers guard Damien Lillard (24 per game) in that category.
So it goes without saying that Curry, Durant, and Westbook were bound to showcase a shooting clinic for the fans. The first half was all Warriors, and the Thunder were down as much as 16 in the 2nd quarter. Steph Curry put on a show per usual. You can see him get busy on this play here, splashing in one bucket out of his 26 points.
And here when he crossed KD prettaaay, prettaaay good.
Plus, Chef Curry seasons his pan a bit for extra flavor with what he makes with his teammates. This pass, one of his 10 assists, to Andre Iguodala is an extra spiced one sauteed, flipped up and over in the kitchen.
The Warriors had the lead most of the game, but in the fourth quarter the Thunder rumbled their way back and cut the lead down to 4. Durant fired back with one of his threes below. He ended up with a total of 40 points after coming down court to the top of the key, his sweet spot, to hit this J.
Oklahoma City's Enes Kanter hit a jumper that tied the game at 104, but Curry and Thompson would score two consecutive lay-ups for the Thunder to regain the lead in the final minute. Kevin Durant soon after missed a long three-pointer out of desperation to chop down the lead.
And of course, Lil B had to chime in why KD missed the jumper:
The Warriors won, 116-108, and have won 41 straight games at home. They are three wins shy of tying the Chicago Bulls home winning streak record from the 1995-96 season. Russell Westbrook had 27 points and 12 assists. The Dub's arsenal had Klay Thompson end up with 18 points, and Draymond Green added 14 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists. Their record is now 46-4. Oklahoma City is now 38-14, and ended their 12-game winning streak with the loss.
