Is convincing Michael Jordan to play for the Wizards at the end of his career something that you really want to take credit for? Apparently, yes. Which is why CNN reporter Wolf Blitzer is now stepping up and trying to take credit for convincing MJ to take his talents to Washington back in 2001. Blitzer hosted a panel in '01 that included Jordan, David Stern, and Billy Hunter during which he made the suggestion that His Airness should come to D.C. to play for the Wiz.

"At one point, I said to him, 'This city would really explode if you put your uniform back on and started playing a little bit.' And he laughed," the host of CNN's Situation Roomtold the Washington Post recently. "Then I pressed him and pressed him. After the interview, he did it. Now being an egomaniac that I am, I take personal credit. But I suspect there were other factors besides my excellent questioning that convinced him to come back and play."

Ya think? Otherwise, we know exactly who to blame for ruining our final image of MJ hanging a hand over Bryon Russell in the '98 NBA Finals. [viaPro Basketball Talk]
