The object of most fantasy football leagues out there is simple. To quote the late, great Raiders owner Al Davis: "Just win, baby!" In these kinds of leagues, if you put together a good record during the regular season, make the playoffs, and win your league's championship game, then you end up having a great season. And if you don't? Well, better luck next year!
There are also a number of fantasy football leagues that have popped up in recent years that operate by a different set of rules, though. In these leagues, the object isn't just to win. It's also not to lose. As in, "Don't finish in last place, or else you have to (fill in the blank with an embarrassing act that'll make you wish you'd never joined the league in the first place)."
As a result of this newfangled way of dealing with fantasy losers, we've seen people do some really crazy things recently. So we decided to list 10 Ridiculous Things People Have Been Forced to Do After Losing Fantasy Football Leagues. We hope none of you are ever subjected to any of these things. But if you are, please (please!) let us know about it at [email protected].
Get a tattoo designed by the winner of the league.
This seems to be one of the most popular "prizes" for fantasy football losers. And it's also a good indication of just how overdone tattoos have become. Once upon a time, getting tatted up was considered a big deal. But nowadays? Meh. It's just a tattoo that'll stay on your body for the rest of your life. NBD!
This guy is going to look like a gigantic jackass trying to explain this stupid #YOLOSWAG tattoo to his grandkids one day.
Create a calendar filled with shirtless photos and awkward poses.
The fact that this guy had to pose for pictures like this in the first place is bad enough. But the fact that he had to pose for them, turn them into a 2015 calendar, and then post them to Instagram? Yikes. Dude probably can't wait for 2016 to begin so he can take this calendar off his friends' walls.
Recreate Sia's "Chandelier" music video.
We don't know who actually lost here—the guy who was forced to create this music video or everyone who sat down and spent time watching it. Kudos to him for going through with it and actually taking it seriously enough to study Sia's moves in her video so that he could mimic them. But we'll never get back the three minutes and 51 seconds that we spent watching this!
Hold a gigantic "I SUCK AT FANTASY FOOTBALL SIGN" outside of a busy shopping center.
A suggestion: If you really want to embarrass the loser in your fantasy football league, make him or her hold this sign while wearing the jersey of the player who cost him or her a chance to finish outside of the basement in your standings. For example, this guy would probably get way more laughs if he was wearing, say, a Geno Smith jersey here. And it'd show the rest of the world that, at one time, he actually thought he had a chance to win a fantasy 'chip with a guy like Geno leading the way.
Reenact Al Pacino's speech from "Any Given Sunday."
Did this guy practice his Al Pacino impersonation at all before he filmed this? LOL. He deserves some credit for trying to get into character and for standing in front of a screen that was playing the movie, so that it kinda, sorta looked like he was in the film. But this was so bad that it was funny.
Get a belly button ring.
Do we even need to explain this one? Outside of the fact that most guys do not want a piece of metal dangling from their belly buttons, we've heard that getting your belly button pierced hurts. A lot. And that pain would be magnified once you realized that you now had a cute little panda permanently affixed to your stomach. Double ouch.
Take the SATs.
Taking the SATs as a teen wasn't any fun. So can you imagine giving up a Saturday morning to sit with a bunch of kids who, in some cases, are half your age in order to take the test? And can you imagine what you'd feel like if you got your results back and found out that you couldn't even get into the local community college at this point in your life? Not only would you be a failure at fantasy football, but you'd be a failure at life, too!
Perform a 10-minute routine at a comedy club using jokes written by the rest of the league.
When comedians are getting a lot of laughs, we imagine that there's no better feeling in the world. But when they're bombing on stage? Well, there's a reason why they call it bombing. It makes comedians feel like crap. So there's absolutely nothing funny about this fantasy football "prize," which is strangely one of the more popular ones next to forcing losers to get tattoos. It must be every bit as brutal as it sounds.
Get pelted with tomatoes.
This one isn't particularly embarrassing. But after looking at the video above, it does look pretty painful. The fantasy league in the video allowed their loser to wear a mask and use a baseball mitt while they threw tomatoes at him. But that didn't stop him from getting hit a number of times with the flying fruit. And contrary to popular belief, tomatoes don't break apart when they hit someone. They stay intact and sting like hell.
Put an embarrassing trophy on display at home.
The trophy that you see here really isn't all that embarrassing. We'd be proud to display a toilet trophy on our coffee table for a year—if for no other reason than that it would be a great conversation piece. But there are some really disturbing fantasy football trophies out there, like this one which, we should warn you, is NOT SFW. Try explaining one of those kinds of trophies to a date or your mom or the exterminator or anyone who happens to visit you during the year. If it doesn't make you try harder at fantasy football next year, pretty much nothing will.
