You would think that the NBA would like a guy like Drake being involved with the Toronto Raptors. As recently as a year ago, the league's lone Canadian team was more or less an afterthought around the NBA. NBA free agents weren't all that interested in signing with Toronto and the Raptors weren't on most NBA fans' radars. But thanks to Drake's recent involvement with the team—he currently serves as a "Global Ambassador" for the organization—and the team's success last season, the Raptors are now one of the most intriguing teams in the Eastern Conference.

But apparently, the NBA is not impressed. Because according to The Globe and Mail, the league actually tried to get the Raptors to strip Drizzy of his official title recently after he shouted out Kevin Durant during OVO Fest 2014. The Globe and Mail reports that the league agreed to drop the $25,000 tampering fine that they gave to the Raptors as a result of Drake's shout out, if they agreed to fire Drake and cut their ties to him.

The Raptors reportedly refused to take Drake's title away and instead accepted the $25,000 fine. And assuming that The Globe and Mail's report is true, that was a great decision. Because in the span of less than a year, Drake has made the Raptors relevant again (hell, we're talking about them in the middle of August!). So taking away his title is the last thing that the Raptors—or the NBA—should be trying to do right now.
