Do you like watching NBA players play defense? Then the 2014 NBA All-Star Game was not for you.
The Eastern and Western Conferences set a new NBA All-Star Game record on Sunday night by recording a total of 318 combined points during the East's 163-155 comeback win over the West. Despite their loss, Kevin Durant and Blake Griffin both dropped 38 points for the West and came within just four points of tying Wilt Chamberlain's All-Star Game record of 42 points. And all kinds of other records—including most field goals by one team (70 by the East), most three-pointers by one team (16 by the West), most field goals by one player (19 by Griffin), and most three-pointers by one player (8 by Carmelo Anthony)—were set during the contest. It was a pretty entertaining game…provided, of course, you despise the idea of NBA players playing defense.
Even if you didn't enjoy the game itself, though, it was fun to watch it play out on Twitter. As always, Twitter had a field day talking about everything from Griffin's array of slam dunks to the East's lack of star power on the bench (no love for Paul Millsap, tweeps?!) to ASG organ player Sir Foster who had everyone in the Smoothie King Center and at home talking about his terrific renditions of Jay Z's "PSA," Gucci Mane's "Lemonade," and Ying Yang Twins' "Whistle While You Twurk." It more than made up for the lackluster D that was played during the All-Star Game.
