It's not often that we get the chance to cover Division III football, so if we're covering it this morning, then you know that there must be a good reason for it. That reason? There was one hell of a fight that took place on Saturday night during a game between the Pennsylvania colleges Washington & Jefferson and Westminster.

It's a little unclear what prompted the fight. But in the video above, you can see Westminster running back Isaiah Faulk come flying into the screen at around the 18-second mark. It appears as though he may have been shoved in the back at the end of a kick return, and he was not happy about it. But rather than just walking away and making a play later in the game, Faulk responded to the shove by finding the guy who pushed him—or at least, the guy who he thought pushed him—and throwing him to the ground. Faulk then jumped on top of him and got in two solid punches before a W&J pushed him off the player as both sidelines cleared.

W&J head coach Mike Sirianni was angry with what happened, and he seems to think criminal charges could be in order. He spoke with the Observer-Report about the incident after the game.

"You'll get two different stories, but the kid threw a punch that blatantly would be assault and battery," he said. "It was one of the most atrocious things I've seen on a football field ever."

The crazy thing is that the W&J player was obviously wearing a helmet at the time of the attack, so it appears as though Faulk connected with that as opposed to the player's face. And if that's the case, Faulk probably did more damage to himself than the player.

See for yourself in the video above. Who knew Division III football was so intense?
