Former MLB player Albert Belle was reportedly arrested on indecent exposure, DUI, and extreme DUI charges in Arizona over the weekend. He was booked into the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office jail on Sunday.

While the circumstances surrounding Belle’s arrest are still unclear at this time, Fox 10 Phoenix reporter Matt Rodewald is reporting the ex-Indians slugger was arrested during a spring training game in Scottsdale, Arizona. He was charged with two counts of indecent exposure, one count of DUI, and one count of extreme DUI. A mugshot of Belle, who is now 51, was released early Monday morning, and he looks unrecognizable to many of those who remember him playing for the Indians, White Sox, and Orioles over the course of his 12-year MLB career.

Belle’s last MLB game came back in 2000. He hit 381 home runs during his career and made five All-Star teams. He also led the American League in home runs in 1995 and led the American League in RBIs on three separate occasions (1993, 1995, 1996).

But Belle’s career was littered with controversy. He was suspended for using a corked bat in 1994. He was fined for knocking over Brewers infielder Fernando Viña during a game in 1996. He also maintained a contentious relationship with members of the media, often refusing to speak with reporters after games. And his struggles with alcohol have been well documented. He received treatment for alcohol abuse in 1990.

After retiring from MLB, Belle was arrested in 2006 for stalking his ex-girlfriend. He pleaded guilty to stalking and was sentenced to five months in jail and five years probation.
