Shawn Marion was trending on social media early Wednesday morning after the former NBA star unleashed a profanity-laced rant on Twitter Spaces.

On Tuesday, numerous NBA fans took part in a Twitter Spaces that revolved around the following question: Who would be the GOAT player in NBA history if they had more help?

The conversation got enough traction that Marion joined the argument, at which point the NBA champion sounded off on people who continue to criticize his unorthodox shooting form.

“They talk about my motherfucking shot, but nobody in the fucking league shoots the same. Get the fuck out of here,” Marion said. “I’m shooting 35-40 percent from the fucking three-point line at one point in my career. I was a very consistent jump shooter, so you are going to sit there and talk about my motherfucking shot, but don’t want to talk about everything else I did on the fucking floor?”

“Get the fuck out of here,” Marion added. “Suck my dick.”

“Like seriously, I’m averaging 20 plus points and over ten rebounds a game at 6″7′ in a league that is dominated by bigs at the time,” he continued. “Dominated by power forwards and centers, and then I’m getting two blocks, and I’m getting two-plus steals per game.

“And you want to sit there and talk about my motherfucking shot? Don’t nobody in the league shoot the same. Really? Look, I’m top five – you go back, who got the number one winning percentage in Phoenix Suns history? N**** Me! I’m top five in almost every category in Phoenix Suns’ history,” Marion added.

“Go back and look at it, numbers don’t lie. I’m talkin’ straight facts, I don’t play these games.”

You can’t blame Marion for taking shots at his critics. Despite his unique jumpshot, which is widely considered one of the ugliest shooting forms in recent NBA history, Marion’s resume is underrated.

Over his 16-year NBA career, the Matrix averaged 15.2 points per game, 8.7 rebounds per game, 1.9 assists per game, and 1.5 steals per game. While spending his prime with the “Seven Seconds or Less” Phoenix Suns, Marion made four All-Star teams and two third-team All-NBA teams.

At his peak, Marion stuffed box scores with mind-boggling stat lines: In 2003–04, he averaged 19.0 points, 9.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 2.1 steals, 1.3 blocks, while leading the league in total steals;  he started all 81 games for the Suns in 2004-05, Marion averaged 19.4 points (.476 FG%, .833 FT%), 11.3 rebounds, 2.01 steals, 1.9 assists, 1.47 blocks; and in 2005-06, Marion delivered his best season, averaging 21.8 points (.525 FG%, .809 FT%), 11.8 rebounds, 1.98 steals, 1.8 assists, and 1.69 blocks.

Listen to the Matrix’s rant up top, and put some respect on Shawn Marion’s name!
