UPDATED 7/11, 5:50 p.m. ET: Aaron Hernandez's brother D.J. Hernandez did not attend a recent court hearing, and now a judge has issued an order for his arrest.

According to TMZ Sports, Hernandez's older brother was scheduled to appear in court last Friday on a charge stemming from the brick-throwing incident at ESPN headquarters in Bristol, Connecticut in the spring. However, D.J. never showed up, and a re-arrest was ordered.

The former University of Connecticut wide receiver and quarterback was arrested in March and charged with a misdemeanor on breach of peace relating to the brick-throwing.

Dennis “D.J.” Hernandez, the older brother of the late NFL player Aaron Hernandez, was arrested after he allegedly threw a brick at ESPN’s headquarters in Bristol, Connecticut, TMZ reports. According to the outlet, the brick that Hernandez threw was in a plastic bag that also contained a handwritten note.

“To all media outlets,” the letter read, according to authorities. “It’s about time you all realeyes [sic] the affect media has on all family members. Since you’re a world wide leader maybe you could lead how media and messages are delivered brick by brick. Clean it up!” The note continued, “Yours truly, Dennis J. Hernandez.”

The incident, which occurred on March 23, saw Hernandez being arrested for misdemeanor breach of peace. He arrived to ESPN’s campus in an Uber and threw the brick onto the HQ’s grounds after he was denied entry by security. Police also told Hernandez that another visit to ESPN’s headquarters would likely result in him being detained for trespassing.

Hernandez, who changed his name to Jonathan, is scheduled to appear in court in April.

A separate report from TMZ detailed that Hernandez was recently involved in a police chase after going through a bipolar episode. The chase reportedly saw Hernandez driving at high speeds in Cheshire, Connecticut. He was eventually detained following “a brief foot chase” and taken to a local hospital. He’s facing five charges, two of them being reckless driving and engaging police in pursuit, over the incident.

Dennis’s brother Aaron Hernandez, who played with the New England Patriots for three seasons, died in 2017 while serving a life sentence for the murder of Odin Lloyd.
