Carmelo Anthony is on his third team in as many years. The fallen superstar is hoping his time with the Houston Rockets turns out better than his lone year in Oklahoma City. Monday, Melo sent a letter to The Oklahoman entitled, "Thank you, OKC," in which he reflected on his 2017-18 campaign.
He wrote that "things don't always turn out how you want," and he's "sorry it didn't work out while I was here." Melo sounds genuinely sad about the unsuccessful experiment. Below is the full transcript of his letter.
Melo, who recently turned 34, played in 78 games with OKC. He averaged 16.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game and shot 35.7 percent from three-point range. He struggled to adjust to a diminished role as the Thunder's third and often fourth option.
After OKC traded the former Syracuse star to Atlanta, the Hawks bought out his contract, freeing him up to a sign a one-year minimum deal with the Rockets. He is widely expected to come off the bench for the loaded Rockets.
