Complex UK named Nottingham’s M’Way as a rapper to watch out for last year and, as you’ll probably know by now, we are never wrong.
Having consistently dropped heat ever since with tracks like “With Ease”, “Provide It” and “Caught A Cold”, M’Way returns today with another trap-infused bop entitled “WYD”, which sees him lace Chucks’ flute-driven production with a relentless, conversational flow, and brazen rhymes aimed at his haters and doubters.
“My music’s authentic and jumpy,” M’Way says. “The kind of music I listen to always has that trap bounce. That was what I liked; the 808s, the kicks, the snares—everything—so I thought, ‘Why not rap on it?’ I’m bringing that new energy to the UK rap scene. I’m championing a new sound from Nottingham, and the video [for ‘WYD’] reflects that idea of me taking it to a next level. I’m coming different this year, so keep it locked.”
