Tulane University guard Teshaun Hightower was arrested Saturday night and charged with murder for his alleged involvement in the death of 24-year-old Devante Anthony Long earlier this month, ESPN reports

Hightower was being held without bail in Henry County Jail as he awaited his court appearance, which was scheduled for Sunday morning. In addition to felony murder, he’s also being charged with aggravated assault, battery, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

Hightower was one of six suspects being investigated by the Henry County Police Department in connection to the April 8 shooting at an apartment complex in Stockbridge, Georgia. Long was shot and died while at the hospital.

The day of the incident Hightower posted the following tweet:

God protect my people 🙏🏾

Hightower's brother Jeffrey is one of the five men in police custody. The sixth person hasn't been arrested yet.

Hightower transferred to Tulane last year after spending the last two seasons at Georgia. The Lithonia, Georgia native led the Green Wave in points per game (15.9) during the 2019-20 campaign. He declared for the NBA draft on April 18.

"Upon learning of Teshaun's arrest this afternoon, he was immediately dismissed from the Tulane basketball program," Tulane said in a statement obtained by CBS Sports.
