The New York Jets took a big bet on USC quarterback Sam Darnold by selecting him No. 3 overall in this year's draft, and so far Darnold hasn't disappointed. During Friday's preseason game between the Giants and Jets, a video of Darnold and his veteran mentor, Josh McCown, went viral, as the two quarterbacks ran their hands through their hair in the exact same fashion at the exact same time. Gotta keep the flow on point.

Sunday, reporters asked Darnold about that moment, and he had a priceless explanation for it.

Sam Darnold today: “Everyone has been talking about it, but a total coincidence. But I would say that I've taught Josh a couple of things. Everyone has been like, ‘Oh yeah, Josh is teaching Sam a bunch.’ But I think I taught him a couple of things about the hair.” #Jets https://t.co/jEnZ0ohoaU

McCown, who didn't play Sunday and has only played one series so far in the preseason, also provided a funny explanation.

"For preseason [week] three, I think we were firing on cylinders," McCown said, according to ESPN. "It's when you want to be at your best. Obviously, there's some room for improvement, but for the most part it was a solid effort."

Darnold got the start against the Jets' cross-town rivals. The rookie completed 8 of 16 passes for 86 yards and a touchdown.

Teddy Bridgewater also played under center, completing 11 of 15 passes for 104 yards. It seems all but certain that Darnold will be the Jets' starting QB in Game 1, and Bridgewater is the likely No. 2 guy, with McCown falling to the bottom of the depth chart.
