Packers WR Trevor Davis warms up before a 2017 game.

On Sunday morning, Packers wide receiver Trevor Davis executed a very poorly conceived idea by joking about smuggling a bomb into Los Angeles International Airport. Not surprisingly, he was arrested.

TMZ reports the 24-year-old was being asked routine security questions about whether he or his traveling companion had "knives or explosives" at the Hawaiian Airlines ticket counter. It was at that point he apparently saw his opportunity to bring down the house by jokingly asking said companion, "Did you remember to pack the explosives?" She reportedly said "no." Davis then said "just kidding," but cops were called and he was arrested for making misdemeanor criminal threats. He has since been both booked and released after posting $15,000 bail.

He is due back in court on May 3.

The Packers said they are aware of the incident. Following a fifth-round selection out of Cal in the 2016 draft, Davis has been used sparingly by the team, recording eight catches for 94 yards and a touchdown. This past season he was used almost exclusively as a return man, where he racked up averages of 12.0 yards (per punt return) and 22.8 yards (per kickoff return), respectively.
