As America anticipates the Super Bowl next weekend, fans across the country have started placing their bets. One fan, in particular, though, seems convinced the Philadelphia Eagles will reign supreme against their rivals, the New England Patriots. The MGM Sportsbook in Las Vegas is reporting that one fan has placed a "multimillion-dollar" bet on the Eagles, shifting the balance of the evenly split betting pools.

MGM vice president of race and sports Jay Rood confirmed with ESPN that the bet had been placed, but he refused to reveal the exact amount. He did, however, confirm the bet was big enough to make it one of the largest reported bets in recent Nevada history. "Obviously we're pretty heavy Eagles now," Rood explained to ESPN

Rood said the customer had placed a number of large bets in the past, but he declined to provide further details about their identity or why they were so confident in the Eagles. He didn't confirm whether it was a money-line wager or a straight-up bet, either, providing little information other than that it's the largest bet they've received in the lead-up to the game yet.

Speaking with ESPN, Rood also explained bets like these aren't uncommon, but they usually arrive closer to kickoff. "It's a good position that we got it this early," Rood added. He also said that they've seen a number of six-figure wagers and five-figure bets, with some reaching as high as $80,000. However, the majority of the larger bets were on the Patriots.
