76ers Get the No. 1 Overall Pick, Twitter Cries Conspiracy

The Philadelphia 76ers will likely use the No. 1 draft pick on LSU's Ben Simmons or Duke's Brandon Ingram.

The NBA held its annual Draft Lottery Tuesday night, in which there was much speculation whether the Laker's would fall out of the top 3 teams to pick first. Renowned sportswriter Bill Simmons predicted the draft lottery drawing outcome with these tweets:

Don't be nervous Lakers fans - there's no way the NBA would ever allow its 2nd-biggest market to lose a top-3 pick. You got this.

Conspiracy Bill's picks for the lottery tonight: (1) Minnesota, (2) Lakers, (3) Philly, (4) Boston.

Turns out that he was right about the Lakers being in the top three but not correct about the team who would receive the No. 1 overall pick. The Philadelphia 76ers got the top pick, and the Lakers snagged No. 2.

After NBA Commissioner Adam Silver revealed that the Sixers got the top pick, Philly fans went crazy and chanted their highly-circulated hashtag #TrustTheProcess, feeling much vindication from tanking this past season as the league's worst team.

Many other conspiracy theorists are claiming on Twitter that former Sixers center and NBA Hall of Famer Dikembe Mutumbo broke the news earlier than the NBA wanted expected with this tweet:

ICYMI... Way earlier today, Mutombo blocked the NBA's best efforts to hide the result. pic.twitter.com/yBZDgdcMzv
