ESPN just released a statement indicating that Bayless will be leaving the network when his current contract expires this summer. Additionally, he will be making his final appearance on First Take on the day after the 2016 NBA Finals. Here’s the full statement:
Skip Bayless has decided to leave ESPN when his contract expires at the end of August.
His final appearance on First Take will be the day after the NBA Finals conclude.
We want to thank Skip for his many contributions to ESPN. His hard work and talent have benefited ESPN for 12 years.
There hasn’t been any official word yet on where Bayless will go when he leaves ESPN, but it sounds like he will likely land at Fox Sports 1. Sports Illustrated reporter Richard Deitsch is reporting that, despite Bayless’ departure, First Take will continue on:
