Tim Duncan Will Not Play Against Warriors Monday

Could this be a patented Gregg Poppovich move, giving his aging forward a random night of rest, not caring who it comes against?

The most anticipated game of the NBA season will be without one of the league's legendary players.

Reports out of San Antonio Sunday said Tim Duncan will not suit up for Monday's mammoth matchup between the Warriors (40-4) and Spurs (38-6) in Oakland.

INJURY REPORT - Tim Duncan (soreness, right knee) is out for tomorrow's Spurs-Warriors game.

The 39-year-old Duncan missed Thursday's game against the Suns, but returned to the lineup for Friday's victory over the Lakers. Could this be a patented Gregg Poppovich move, giving his aging forward a random night of rest, not caring who it comes against? Or is Duncan really ailing? We can't really tell. But one Spurs beat reporter thinks he's knows what's going on

(Psssst ... Duncan probably wasn't going to play much against the Warriors' small-ball lineup anyhow)

The game tips off at 10:30 pm ET.
