Something didn't seem right about Odell Beckham Jr. throughout Sunday's game against the Carolina Panthers. Even though Panthersย cornerback Josh Norman claimed he "pulled back the mask" on who Beckham Jr. really is, there had to be more to this story. After all, the New York Giants star wide receiver had opposing players try and get into his head before, but OBJ has never responded like he did yesterday.ย
Former cornerback and NFL analystย Deion Sanders felt the same way about Beckham Jr.'s actions and investigated the matter. In an interview on The Stephen A. Smith Show, Sanders revealed that the Panthers did more and far worse than just carrying baseball bats during warmups. "Josh Norman was on a football field with a baseball bat yesterday, insinuating to Odell Beckham, 'I'm going to end your career. It's going to be over. I'm going to blow you out. I'm going to blow your knees out.'"ย
Sanders went on to describe one player, who may have been on the practice squad, walking over to Beckham Jr. in pregame warmupsย "like he was going to him in his knees and said, 'We're going to end your career today.'"
"My sources tell me Josh really provoked a lot of this because now it got into something else," Deion said. "Then, you start talking about his hairstyle. Then, you start talking about his sexuality." Sanders isn't the only person who can confirm this report.ย
After the game, when Panthers cornerback Cortland Finnegan was asked about Odell's behavior, he said,ย "Maybe it's in his blood. Maybe it's female-related." Again, the Panthers players are talking about his sexuality.ย
In a response to a tweet from ESPN's Skip Baylessย criticizing the first half performance from Beckham Jr. on Sunday, look at Norman's choice of emojis.ย
Again, the Panthers players are talking about hisย sexuality. While Odell's actions aren't free from punishment, the NFL should look into what the Panthers have been doing as well. The league took a stance on using discriminatory language on the field. Wouldn't this fall in that category?ย
