Did Allen Iverson blow through the estimated $200 million that he made while he was playing basketball professionally?
It's a question that people have been trying to answer for years now. According to some reports, AI spent everything he made during his NBA career on jewelry, cars, and the family and friends that he surrounded himself with (someone even started a rumor about AI being homeless once). According to others, he's got a pension and a trust fund that are going to help him live comfortably for the rest of his life.
It's one of the issues that AI addresses in his new Showtime documentary, Iverson, which is set to air tomorrow night. He also talked about it during an appearance on CBS This Morning today and said that he's not hurting financially.
"That's a myth," he said when he was asked about his alleged money troubles. "That's a rumor."
"Which part?" he was then asked.
"The fact that I'm struggling in any part of my life," he responded.
Check out the clip above to hear AI talk about it. And then check out the interview that our very own Sean Evans did with AI this week below. AI talks about playing football in high school, the way that today's NBA players dress, and his shelved rap album:
